Remember when we said that May 2015 was going to be big for vehicle sales? We were wrong. It was HUGE. According to Automotive News, May’s seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) hit a record breaking 17.78 million, the highest it’s been since July 2005.
Due to an extremely promising first half of the year, a consistently strong economy, and the fact that the average age of U.S. vehicles is over 11 years old, NADA has changed their 2015 vehicle sales SAAR forecast from 16.94 million to 17.17 million, meaning that dealers can expect the sales rate to continue at 17.17 million for the rest of 2015.
